THE PAINTING STEPS

USING THE SMALL CONTAINER AND PLASTIC KNIFE, MIX THE PRIMARY BLUE AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF PRIMARY YELLOW TO MAKE A BLUISH GREEN COLOR (MORE ON THE BLUE SIDE THAN GREEN). WHEN YOU HAVE THE RIGHT COLOR ADD A SMALL AMOUNT OF WHITE TO LIGHTEN THE COLOR. USING A 1” WIDE BRUSH AND THE COLOR WE MADE, STARTING AT THE TOP OF THE CANVAS PAINT IN THE COLOR IN THE TOP 1/3 OF THE CANVAS. AS YOU PAINT DOWN THE CANVAS, ADD SMALL AMOUNTS OF BLACK TO THE TURQUOISE AND ADD A BIT OF YELLOW FOR VARIATION, UNTIL YOUR WHOLE CANVAS IS FULL OF PAINT. LET THIS DRY.

USING WHITE PAINT AND THE #4 ROUND BRUSH, START ADDING THE CENTERS OF YOUR FLOWERS WITH SMALL CIRCLES WHERE YOU WANT YOUR FLOWERS TO BE. MAKE SMALL MARKS (NORTH, SOUTH, EAST AND WEST POLES) FROM THE CENTERS AS A GUIDE WHERE TO PAINT YOUR PETALS. USING THE #12 ROUND BRUSH, APPLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF PRESSURE TO FORM THE TIP OF THE PETAL, ADD A BIT OF DOWNWARD PRESSURES FOR THE MIDDLE, AND AS YOU GET TO THE CENTER OF THE FLOWER, EASE UP ON THE PRESSURE. THIS WILL CREATE ONE PETAL IN ONE MOVEMENT, CONTINUE FOR ALL FO THE FLOWERS. (FOR THE FLOWERS LAYING FLATER, THE PETALS WILL HAVE A CURVE TO THEM AND YOU WON’T PAINT ANY PETALS FOR THE BACK OF THE FLOWER.) ALLOW FOR THIS TO DRY

USING THE TURQUOISE PAINT AND THE 2 YELLOWS, CREATE THE DARKER GREEN COLOR AND USING THE 1/2’ ANGLE BRUSH TO LAY IN SOME GREEN WHERE OUR GRASS IS GOING TO GO. ADD MORE YELLOW AND WHITE AND CONTINUE ADDING THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF GREEN TO FORM OUR GRASS. USING THE SAME COLORS AND THE #4 ROUND BRUSH, ADD IN THE STEMS OF THE FLOWERS.

USING YELLOW OXIDE AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF PRIMARY RED, MAKE A DARK ORANGE COLOR AND PAINT THE MIDDLE OF THE FLOWERS. MAKE LIGHTER YELLOW COLOR USING THE PRIMARY YELLOW INTO THE MIX WITH SOME WHITE AND ADD IT TO THE TOP PART OF THE CENTER. USING JUST PRIMARY YELLOW, PAINT IN BETWEEEN THESE TWO COLORS TO BLEND THEM TOGETHER.
